The Indian army rescue operations are almost in the last stages, but army sources have said they would remain in the area till all works are complete. Lt Gen Bakshi, who will take charge as general officer commanding in chief, has said that he would be visiting Uttarakhand next week to assess the situation.

Sources have said that there are now no stranded pilgrims in Gangotri, Yamnotri, Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib while around 400 pilgrims are still stranded at Badrinath.

Brigadier Narender Kumar who has come from Bareilly to oversee the operations says, “We will keep searching for survivors when we receive specific information about them.”
