In cases of unrestrained daring and desperation, two people were killed for resisting robbery attempts in two separate incidents, one in south and the other northeast Delhi, in the last twenty-four hours.
The first incident was reported from Okhla area where an 18-year-old boy
was stabbed to death by a group of unknown men on Sunday night.
While the police said Sarvesh Kumar was killed over personal enmity, his family and neighbours claimed he was killed for resisting robbery.
A case of murder has been registered at Amar Colony police station.
A police officer said Kumar used to sell snacks near Okhla Vegetable market and lived with his family in Harkesh Nagar.
On Sunday night, he went to Okhla Railway station where some assailants cornered him and attempted to rob him.
Eyewitnesses told the police that Kumar got stabbed while resisting the robbery.
Even after suffering severe stab wounds, Kumar ran towards the nearby Kiran jhuggi cluster and screamed for help. The assailants followed him and disappeared only when they saw some locals rushing to help him.
"He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where the resident doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The victim's mobile phone and some cash were missing from his pocket," said the officer.
In the second incident of robbery, a 26-year-old courier agent was stabbed to death allegedly by unidentified men who robbed him of his mobile phone and some cash in northeast Delhi's Seemapuri on Sunday night.
Police said Ramesh Saini had gone to Dwarka on Sunday evening for some official work. He was on his way home when some men waylaid him and attempted to rob him.
"It appears that Saini's throat was slit when he resisted the robbery attempt. His mobile phone and wallet were missing. We have registered a case and looking for the goons," another police officer said.
