Close on the heels of Rajasthan Royals paceman Siddharth Trivedi getting suspended by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) just after he had turned a prosecution witness, young left-arm spinner Harmeet Singh finds himself facing a similar penalty. He has been suspended by the Board pending an enquiry into his role in the IPL betting and spot-fixing scandal.

The spinner was quizzed by BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit chief Ravi Sawani for close to an hour on Saturday after police sources had claimed that bookies and fixers tried to lure him with gifts to indulge in ‘spot-fixing’ but he did not act accordingly.

He was made a prosecution witness by the Delhi Police investigating the spot-fixing case involving three Rajasthan Royals, S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.

Harmeet, who was part of the U-19 World Cup-winning India squad, has also been issued a show-cause notice by the Board.
