Moderate separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan on Saturday termed chief minister Omar Abdullah "incompetent and insincere" on the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). "If Omar Abdullah had had any sincerity in his statements, he would have cancelled the Disturbed Area Act from the state to pave way for the revocation of AFSPA," he said.

Khan, a close associate of moderate Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said the chief minister will not cancel the Disturbed Area Act. "Because he better knows that by doing so his masters in New Delhi will get annoyed and he will lose his job," he added.

He blamed the chief minister for the killings of 2010. "He (Abdullah) has failed to punish the men in uniform involved in the killings of 124 innocent Kashmiris in 2010. He has not even lodged FIRs against the killers, so how is he now talking of people's security," Khan said.
