Read: Madhulika Liddle
, author, My Lawfully Wedded Husband:The Great Hedge of India Roy Moxham
This is one of my favourite books. The Great Hedge of India is a book of history and travel. It revolves around a fascinating discovery — first
through documents, and then on the ground — of a massive hedge that the British planted in India in the late 1800s to prevent the smuggling of salt. The book also describes Moxham’s personal quest for the hedge.
Leave it to Psmith PG Wodehouse
It is a farcical, delightful and complicated tale about a valuable diamond necklace, a romance, mistaken (and assumed) identities and more — in classic Wodehouse style.
Sarum Edward Rutherfurd
Another one of my favourites, this is a historical fiction novel set against the backdrop of the city of Salisbury in England, beginning during the Ice Age and continuing till 1985. The story also covers major points of British history.
At Home: A Short History of Private Life Bill Bryson
The author takes us on a room-by-room tour through his own house, using each room as a jumping off point into the vast history of the domestic artifacts we take for granted. It is vastly informative, well-researched and entertaining. It is a history of homes, households and living spaces.
Von Ryan’s Express David Westheimer
The book revolves around a fast-paced World War II adventure about a group of Allied POWs who must escape from a train taking them into Nazi Germany.
Listen: Shabab Sabri, Sufi and Bollywood Singer:
Tujhe dekha to ye jaana sanam- Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
This is one of the first songs that I liked. In fact, I have been inspired by this track all my life. The lyrics and tune of the song, as well as its picturisation in the film, keeps reverberating in my mind even when I listen to it now.
Tum saath ho jab apne- Kaalia
I still hear this song at parties and wedding celebrations even after so many years. It’s there on my iPod as well. I’m sure the song has inspired numerous musicians and Bollywood singers.
Yaadon ki baarat nikli hai- Yaadon Ki Baaraat
I grew up listening to this song from the 1973 film. Talking about it only reminds me of my childhood days. I like the song’s video and often watch it online.
Ala Barfi -Barfi!
This song is sung in two versions, and I like both. But the version sung by Mohit Chauhan, along with Swanand Kirkire, is a masterpiece. His sweet voice does complete justice to the song.
Pani da rang -Vicky Donor
Sung by Ayushmann Khurrana, the song is melodious and has memorable lyrics. Also, Ayushmann has done a commendable job as an actor too.

Mahesh Lunch Home, Juhu
Being an avid seafood lover, this place is where seafoodies celebrate! I love the Butter Garlic Prawns and Sol Kadi. If you haven’t been here, you are definitely missing out on some extraordinary Mangalorean food.
Copper Chimney, Lower Parel
When in the mood for Lucknowi cuisine, this is the restaurant to be at. The Murgh Makhani, Banarasi Pulao and the Reshmi Kabab are simply mouth-watering.
Gadda Da Vida at Hotel Novotel Juhu
This place certainly has the best view. After a hectic day at work or on a lazy Sunday evening, I love to relax here and try their exotic cocktails.
Oh! Calcutta, Andheri
This place serves the best authentic Bengali cuisine. Their unique chutneys are a must-try. I love the variety in Indian cuisine, as each regional dish has unique flavours due to their combination of spices and other ingredients.
Spaghetti Kitchen, Khar
I love this place for the ambience and the Italian stroke that’s there in each and every little detail. My experience at this restaurant is always delightful. The Vodka Penne and Tiramisu is something that I would recommend.
Watch: Jay Soni, actor
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge 1995
Lead actors Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol moved the nation with their romance. The romance and chemistry between them was amazing, and the film depicts love in its purest form. The film also has a repeat watch value, I can watch it over and over again.
Love Aaj Kal 2009
The film had a very new age and contemporary feel to it. Lead pair Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone looked perfect in it. In fact, Deepika’s acting was quite good. The songs, besides being good, are a visual treat.
This is one of my favourite films solely because of Ranbir Kapoor, who looked perfect in it as a rock star. His acting in it, as well as the film’s songs, were a rage.
Another one of my favourites because of its amazing and emotionally touching storyline. The way the actors performed, right from Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D’Cruz to Ranbir Kapoor, makes it worth a watch over and over again. The film’s songs just melt the heart.
P.S. I Love you 2007
A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. Actors Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler’s performances are noteworthy. The subject is appealing.
