Krishna Venkatesh, 45, is the male version of a gold digger. He has defrauded more than 20 women of their money and valuables after befriending them online and marrying three of them, and now landed in the custody of the police. Apart from marrying three, he was engaged to one and was to marry another when the police spoiled his plans.

Venkatesh projected himself as the owner of a tour and travel company and a resort in Goa to his women friends, the police said.

Interestingly, he is a devotee of Lord Krishna, the police said.

He married a woman, originally hailing from Kerala but settled in Jaipur, and lived with her in Jaipur for about a year. One of his other two “wives” is in Mumbai and the third in Bangalore.

His Jaipur wife then lodged a complaint against him on June 12 after he fled with more than Rs. 50 lakh, which she arranged from her family for his “business expansion”.

“Venkatesh would take money from women on the pretext of expanding his business and then disappear,” said Bhopal Singh Bhatti, in charge of the Shyam Nagar police station.
