Replying to the motion, water resources minister Jayant Malaiya said that the dam is not part of the Bundelkhand package and the area received excessive rainfall (137 mm) on June 29 and 30.
Executive engineer, Panna visited the dam on June 30 and ordered that water be released but before that the under construction dam developed a breach. The water flowed through the river and there was no damage to any habitation or of human life.
The minister said that the executive engineer, superintendent engineer and chief engineer inspected the dam and cleared it on quality parameters.
The chief technical examiner ( CTE) also cleared the dam. However, the engineer in chief said that the compaction work which was done by the electrical and mechanical wing of the WRD was of inferior quality and it seems that it was done in a hurry.
