The refund money under the exit policy has acted as an incentive for students to inform the institute before joining elsewhere.
Another advantage of the exit policy is that those who surrender their seats also get a second chance of sitting in the IIT JEE exam.
After the second round of seat allotment this year, there were around 400 seats which were not accepted including the 260 under exit policy.
“All these seats will be filled after third round of counseling and no seat will be vacant,” Prof H C Gupta organising chairman JEE 2013 said.
The third round and final allotment of seats will be held on July 15.
