“The IPTV link will allow senior officers to track passenger movement on the station premises 24X7 on their computer and even on laptops or Android-enabled mobile phones,” senior superintendent of police (GRP) Manoj Kumar said.
“The IPTV footage can be accessed with a specific login identity and password that will be provided to senior officers, including the director general (railways), inspector general (railways) and senior superintendent of police (GRP) among others.
Senior officials will no longer require to sit in the control room to review the footages. They can track the footages on their android phones, tablets and laptops,” Kumar said.
He added that more CCTV cameras would be installed on the station premises, especially at the crowded places including platforms, circulating areas and overbridges.
It may be mentioned that under the project Drishti of the GRP as many as 12 cameras have been installed on the station premises, which include eight at Charbagh railway station and four at Lucknow Junction. The project was first launched in Moradabad division of the GRP.
The move to install cameras comes in the wake of the increasing criminal activities on station premises, Charbagh railway station inspector (GRP) GS Tripathi said.
