Dalits residents of Feroze village near here, on Tuesday met additional deputy commissioner (development) Harminder Singh and demanded a probe into the non-delivery of job-cards to villagers registered under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). Ninety nine residents of Feroze village, who were registered under the scheme, were not issued job cards for over four years.  Even payments were shown made to only four villagers.

A delegation led by sarpanch Gurmej Thapar met the ADC and claimed that authorities had made a false claim that Dalits registered under job-cards number 1, 12, 21 and 35 were given payments.
"The government should issue job-cards and assure 200-day employment for poor residents in villages. An inquiry is warranted into the entire incident," Thapar said.

Later, a delegation of Jamsher village residents also met the ADC and asked to arrange employment for people having job-cards else to assure disbursement of unemployment allowance with effect from April 9, 2013.

ADC (development) Harminder Singh said, "We have asked the block development and panchayat officer to inquire into the matter and submit a report. Action will be taken against those found guilty."
