Veteran actor Dharmendra played the iconic character, Veeru, in director Ramesh Sippy’s blockbuster film, Sholay (1975). The film is memorable for the veteran actor not only since it’s one of his biggest hits, but also for his onscreen chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan, who played his best friend, Jai.

Recently, Dharmendra happened to be at the dubbing studio where Sholay 3D is being made by the Sippy brothers, Sascha, Shaan and Shehzad.

The actor got nostalgic while watching the movie. “When Dharmendra heard that Sascha and the team were working on the dubbing of Sholay 3D, he went into the studio and met them. He also got emotional after watching the film. It was a thrilling moment for the makers of the 3D version,” says a source close to the film’s team.

The legendary actor’s visit also made the Sippy brothers really happy. “We were pleasantly surprised to know that Dharamendraji saw the whole film. He was there for some of his personal work but then he stayed back to hear the dialogues from the film. He also watched the rest of it,” says Sascha on behalf of Sippy Films.

Sholay released on August 15, 1975. Now exactly 38 years later, the theatrical trailer of the 3D version will be launched on the same day in 2013.
