Held over 34 acres in Kolad in February, the first edition of The Mud Rush (TMR) gave its attendees quite an experience. The seven-kilometre run saw enthusiastic participants crawling through a marsh canopied with barbwire, jumping into trenches filled with slush and gliding down steep slides.
Post the arduous obstacle course, an electronica fest welcomed the 900-odd people who ran the race.
Now, within six months, TMR is back with a monsoon edition. This time, the race is inspired by the popular game and will be held at the Jadhavgadh Fort, Pune. “The location, the fort, makes it a great place to have the game-inspired run,” says Jay Goradia, director, marketing, TMR. The February run might have been fun, but many who participated complained about the obstacles being too easy. “We have increased the number of obstacles from 15 to 21 this time. We’re trying to keep a balance so that everyone can come and participate,” he says.
The previous edition saw three international DJs playing at the festival, but this time, the organisers are going easy on that front. “We aren’t focussing on music because from the feedback we’ve received, we realised that a lot of people came for the race than the music,” adds Goradia.
