Contrary to UP government’s claims, the local intelligence unit (LIU) at Gautam Budh Nagar district has said there was no apprehension of a law and order problem at Kadalpur. Sources in the unit said it had not sent any report in this regard to the state government, suggesting that there can be tension at Kadalpur where an under-construction wall was demolished on July 27.

“There wasn’t any law and order issue in the region in connection with the demolition of this wall. Neither we foresee any such situation in the future here. Also, our headquarters in Lucknow did not seek any such report,” said a source.

On Thursday, UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had justified the suspension of IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal on the grounds that the LIU report had said communal violence can take place in the region.
