Chouhan and his wife had served a legal notice on Ajay Singh in the third week of June for the latter’s purported remarks against Sadhna Singh.
Talking to Hindustan Times, the counsel for the complainants Deepesh Joshi said the court had fixed August 16 as the date for the next hearing. On the day, the complainants were supposed to furnish evidence to corroborate their charges against Ajay Singh.
The statements of the CM and his wife on Tuesday were recorded under section 200 of the CrPC at the court of CJM SK Pandey, according to Joshi.
Joshi also said that in their statements, the complainants alleged that during the Congress’ Parivartan Yatra Ajay Singh described Sadhna Singh as a currency note counting machine, and also held her responsible for illegal mining in the state. He did it during a public meeting at Khargone on June 4.
Earlier, in a public meeting at Sagar on May 9 he held Sadhna Singh responsible for sale of Gutka pouches in the state at high prices.
Joshi said the statements in the court were the same as mentioned in the legal notice.
As per the notice, at Khargone meeting Ajay Singh had said, “Shivraj Singh ji ne sarvajanik jeevan me avivahit rahne ka sanklap liya tha. Phir rajniti me chamkate hi ve Sadhna Singh ke roop me note ginane ki machine laaye (Shivraj Singh Chouhan had resolved to remain bachelor in his public life but as he shone in the political arena he brought a currency note counting machine in Sadhna Singh).”
