Dressed in red, the KU students came together to create the largest ever formation of students in the shape of a drop. This was done to promote large scale-awareness of voluntary blood donation and to popularise this idea amongst the youth.
The attempt was a joint collaboration between the International Society for Blood Transfusion, India (ISBTI), Kurukshetra University, Indian Red Cross Society and BloodConnect - run by students of IIT, Delhi University, IP University and other colleges in UP, Haryana, Rajasthan and West Bengal. About 3069 KU student volunteers registered for the event to become a part of the human blood drop. The previous record for the largest human blood drop was 3006 people, set by Baekseok University, Pyeongchang, South Korea on 23 February 2012.
Addressing the student volunteers KU VC Lt Gen Dr DDS Sandhu (retd) said, “This historic event will certainly motivate the youth of the country and other citizens to donate blood for saving precious human lives. KU always promotes such events which motivate students to be good citizens and to connect with the world around them.’’
