The Nav Bharat Democratic Party was launched here on Tuesday with the avowed aim of adhering to the principles of transparent democracy and accountable polity.
Party’s national media launch has already been held in New Delhi.
Nav Bharat got its recognition from the Election
Commission of India in June this year.
The party is in the process of identifying leaders to be fielded as its candidates in the 2014 general elections.
The party says its mission is to re-energise India through sustained economic development, socially progressive agenda and accountable government.
The party’s political strategy and development agenda were attracting members from various walks of life, including veteran politicians who found their parties opportunistic and family fiefdoms, said RK Misra, president of the party.
Putting forth the ideologies and agenda of Nav Bharat, Misra said, “Politics to Nav Bharat is an opportunity to serve. The party aspires to be a broad based and inclusive political platform to represent the aspirations of the people from all sections of our society. They feel alienated and unrepresented.”
For the general elections due in 2014, Nav Bharat is identifying candidates in strategically selected constituencies across the country, including UP, Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra, Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha and Jharakhand.
On Nav Bharat’s vision and agenda for UP, Misra said, “UP has the resources and human talent to become the most developed state of our country but it lacks the political will and visionary leadership.”
He added, “People of UP are frustrated and looking for change. They are looking for a credible political alternative. Nav Bharat will fulfil this political need by doing politics of development and not of caste and corruption.”
