The court of additional district and sessions judge, Gurjant Singh has awarded seven months imprisonment to Varun Katoch of Guru Gobind Singh Avenue on Saturday.
The court has also imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 upon him and in case he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo 30 days more in prison. Varun was arrested by the police on April 15 after 220gm intoxicant powder was recovered from his possession.

A case under sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS act was registered against him at Navi Baradari police station.

In a similar incident, the court of additional district and sessions judge Gurnam Singh awarded six months imprisonment to Mela Singh of Khaira Dona village in Kapurthala district on Saturday. He was arrested by Lohian police on January 4, 2013.

A fine of Rs. 500 was imposed upon him and in case, he fails to pay the fine, he will have to undergo seven days more in prison. He was arrested by the police after 100 gm intoxicant powder was found in his possession.
