“While we are not ruling out anyone at this stage, the actual name is yet to emerge,” said a senior police officer.
Dabholkar was shot dead early on Tuesday -- when he was out for his morning walk -- by two men who came on black motorbike.
The police have interrogated seven activists associated with organisations belonging to Sanatan Sanstha and Hindu Jagruti Samity.
The organisations have been opposed to the anti-superstition bill which Dabholkar had been working for, and had issued threats to him. But in absence of any lead, the men were let off. Sanjeev Punalekar, advocate for Sanatan Sanstha, said, “After the incident, police are randomly calling our members for interrogation without any summons.”
