The Uttar Pradesh government's effort to lure investors and industrialists into Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway areas is a mere eyewash, says the Noida entrepreneur association (NEA).
Industrialists are angry because UP principal secretary SP Singh on Thursday did not meet
6,000 industrialists' association on Thursday.
Singh is on a visit to Noida and Greater Noida to ensure existing industrialists better facilities and build conducive environment to lure foreign investors into industrial development, said officials.
“UP government’s claim that it wants to provide better facilities like- 24X7 power supply, better policing, roads and other necessary facilities to existing industrial community is mere an eyewash. Principal Secretary’s refusal to meet Noida industrialists is an example that UP government is not at all serious about improving the infrastructure,” said Sudhir Shrivastav spokesperson of Noida entrepreneur association (NEA) on Thursday.
There are about 6, 000 industrial units in Noida, and industrial sectors- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 58, 59 and 10 among others have potholed-ridden roads that trouble industrialists big time.
“UP government wants to promote Noida and Greater Noida including Yamauna Expressway as a housing hub instead of an industrial cities,” said Shrivastav.
The Principal Secretary only met selective industrialists in the Noida authority’s sector 6 office.
“I was invited for this meeting, but in last minute my name was missing from the list, who could meet top officer. He should have met all industrialists to pay heed to their issues, which need to be addressed for industrial growth,” said Mohan Singh vice-president of NEA.
Ahead of top officers’ visit, the authority for a day had shut about 1,000 unauthorised shop keepers- vendors and squatters, who had been operating from roadside posing inconveniences to commuters daily. “I pay Rs. 3, 000 per month to run my business from road. But the authority officials’ team today instructed to go underground as their top officer is visiting city,” told a vendor.
“UP government wants to promote Noida and Greater Noida including Yamuna Expressway area as industrial destinations, and not as real estate hubs. I have instructed the authority to build better quality roads, and manage municipal waste in a better way. We need to rope in retired army officials and engineers to build better amenities in Noida,” said SP Singh principal secretary, UP while addressing media at Noida’s district hospital compound.
