These hospitals have failed to improve their waste disposal standards despite repeated instructions from the tribunal. Having inspected the hospitals, the Delhi Pollution Control Committee on Friday informed the tribunal that there was not full compliance of the rules.
“…unfortunately, most are government hospitals and deal with a larger section of society …we make it clear that compliance of shortcomings and deficiencies be done at the earliest,” the tribunal said and added this would be the last opportunity for these hospitals. The committee will inspect all the nine hospitals before the next date of hearing and place a comprehensive report before the tribunal.
Other erring hospitals are Maharaja Agrasen, Northern Railways Central, Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Lala Ram Swaroop Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, MVID and two ESI hospitals in Rohini and Basai Darapur.
The tribunal had earlier said five more hospitals --- Safdarjung, Lady Harding, Suchitra Kriplani, Kalawati Swaran and Bara Hindu Rao --- had not fully complied with the rules and told them to take immediate steps to set things right.
