"Every party worker and leader has to strengthen the Punjab Congress at any cost," said Amarinder. "I want to meet party leaders from across the state to have feedback from the grassroots. "People complained about the excesses of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders. One of the leaders equated the situation with the dark days of terrorism," Amarinder was quoted in a press note that did not disclose the names of the leaders who had lunch with him.
To those who attended the lunch, Amarinder asked to not let the state government project the Centre-sponsored schemes as own. "From the feedback, I gather that there is no development, the state has been pushed to virtual bankruptcy, and there is a groundswell against the government," he said.
Responding to the demands of the party leaders, Amarinder said he would tour the state and mobilisez the cadres. Parliamentary elections were just a few months away and every leader had a lot of work and responsibility, he said.
