The schools are directed to make these students appear in two assignments of 20 marks each based on novel/long reading text prescribed for the class, in which the student is studying. If a student can neither speak nor hear or if a student can only hear and not speak or if a student can only speak and not hear, then in lieu of the assessment of speaking and listening in the first term, such students will be required to write a story which should bring out their creativity and imagination.
The word limit for the story can be 750-800 words for Class-9 students and 800-950 words for Class-10 students. For Class 11, the word limit is 900-1,000 words.
In the second term, the students may select one novel out of two prescribed for Class 9, 10 and 11 and write a review of it at the end of the term. This assignment will be in addition to writing answers on the novel in the term-end examination.
