Renault-owned Dacia’s successful Duster SUV has been given a facelift. The updated version will debut at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show to be held in September.

Since the Duster’s launch in July ‘12, the SUV has been the main sales volume driver for the French brand in India with sales of over 56,000 units clocked till July ‘13. With new formidable competition in the form of the Ford EcoSport, and some more in the pipeline, it won’t be surprising if the facelifted Duster makes its way here as well.

The SUV’s front end has been updated with a redesigned grille, adorned by two chrome-plated strips and it houses a new, lower-set air intake and new double-optic headlights with daytime running lights. The upgrades underscore the car’s on-road stance and character. At the back, new lights echo the styling cues of the front end, notably through the use of chrome.

“We built on the appeal of the original model and its proportions. Identity components such as the grille have been modernised. We have also strengthened the 4x4 cues of the vehicle, while keeping all its useful features. The new Duster gets an even stronger character while retaining its initial DNA,” says David Durand, head of styling for the entry range.

New Duster-labeled roof bars with slatted supports underline the car’s SUV character, while new 16-inch ‘Dark Metal’ alloy wheels and ‘Mud and Snow’ tyres are some new touches that enhance the profile of the new Duster.
