Singh, allegedly in an inebriated condition, shot at Dr Kalra as he did not accede to the SI's demand for preparing a fake medico-legal report (MLR) to implicate a person in attempt to murder case. The entire episode was recorded on a close-circuit television (CCTV) installed in the doctor's room.
The district police have suspended both SIs and a departmental inquiry was ordered on Wednesday evening.
Haryana Civil Medical Services Association vice-president Dr Satbir Singh demanded that SI Kumar be booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)."Kumar's role was far more disturbing because he not only remained a mute spectator when his colleague opened fire but also made no effort to overpower him after the crime. The association demands a strict action against the two policemen, failing which doctors will launch a statewide agitation," Dr Satbir said.
Meanwhile, police produced Kashmira Singh at the judicial magistrate's house on Wednesday night to avoid the media. He was sent to 14-day judicial remand.
