“The broadcast of the assembly proceedings will enable Delhites to monitor what their political representatives are doing — whether they are attending the assembly, raising appropriate questions and making relevant laws,” said Anjali Bhardwaj, a member of the SNS.
Starting this session, the proceedings of the Delhi Legislative Assembly are being webcast live at webcast.nic.in/delhiassembly. As reported by HT, this is the result of a sustained follow-up by the SNS of the Central Information Commission’s (CIC) August 2012 order.
Delhi is the third state in the country — after Kerala and Andhra Pradesh — to webcast live its assembly proceedings.
The CIC order had directed the assembly secretariat to develop a hyperlink on their website to provide live telecast/webcast of the proceedings.
