The Haryana government has decided that no transportation of cattle from municipal cattle ponds or guashalas to any other gaushala or other destination, will take place without the written permission of the district magistrate (DM) concerned. An official spokesperson said that taking a serious note of the incidents of violence that occurred in connection with the transportation of cattle, the government had decided to reiterate that their transportation would be subjected to strict regulation as per the law, especially the Punjab Prohibition of Cows Slaughter Act, 1955.

In this direction, it has been made mandatory to obtain written permission from the DM concerned before transporting cows from one place to another. Parties connected with such transportation would have the proposed route and other relevant details of the vehicle or convoys approved by the DM.

He said that the police would strictly implement the law. They would step up patrolling and monitor the movement of cows by various modes of transport and take prompt and effective action wherever needed, he added.
