Mom is my biggest guru: Madhuri Dixit
On Teachers' Day, we talked to Bollywood stars and here's what they have to say on the occasion.
There have been many gurus in my life, starting with my mom who is my biggest guru. I look at Saroj Khan as another guru as I learned a lot from her when she choreographed me. and then there’s Pandit Birju Maharaj from whom I have learnt Kathak.
I studied in a boarding school in Nainital and discipline was something that was taught to us. There was a certain amount of regimentation and not in a bad way, but in a manner in which it teaches you to respect time.
A value that my class 8 literature teacher taught us was to be responsible. I remember her because she was the only teacher who didn’t send us to principal’s office for any wrongdoings. I learnt from her was that we are responsible for our decisions.

I consider (choreographer) Shiamak Davar and (acting coach) Barry John as my gurus. Whatever I am right now and have achieved till now is majorly because of the training that I had with Shiamak and Barry.
