“The incident took place at around 1am. The accused took the girl to a nearby vacant plot of land and sexually assaulted her. The girl soon came to her senses and screamed for help. Upon hearing her cries for help, local residents reached there and rescued the girl. But the accused managed to flee,” said superintendent of police (SP) Shiv Shanker Yadav.
The girl’s parents approached the police on Saturday and lodged a complaint. The police have registered a case under IPC sections for abduction, rape, attempt to murder and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
The girl was sent for a medical examination at the Ghaziabad district hospital.
The victim’s family declined to speak to the media over the issue. However, sources said that family mentioned in their police complaint that the accused made their daughter inhale some substance before abducting her.
“The accused also tried to strangle the victim with her dupatta. We have registered a case and formed special teams to nab the culprits,” SP Yadav said.
Sources said the local residents who reached the spot to rescue the victim also identified the accused when they were escaping from there. Both Shamshad and Kasim are said to be between 19 and 20 years of age.
