The state government on Monday had announced constitution of one-member judicial commission headed by Justice (retired) Vishnu Sahai to probe into the communal violence. The commission of inquiry would cover incidents from August 27 to September 9 in the three districts-Muzaffarnagar, Shamli and Baghpat.
The government has asked the commission to submit the report within two months. The commission would investigate into the causes of communal violence and also suggest measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.
Even as resentment is brewing in the community over mayhem, the Jamiat Ulema Hind has announced to hold daylong dharna at Vidhan Sabha here tomorrow. The
Jamiat chief Maulana Mahmood Madni would lead the agitation. Similarly Ittehad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, whom the state government had recently appointed advisor in handloom and textile department with the rank of minister of state, has assailed the government for its failure.
Expressing his unwillingness to continue on the post Khan said it was sheer failure of the government, as it had taken no step so far against the erring officials responsible for the communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar. “In such a situation it won’t be appropriate for me to continue on the post”, the Maulana said in a letter to the Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
