Chiragh Kumar continued to battle flu and yet challenge for top honours as he added a three-under 69 to move into shared second place at the halfway stage of the US $500,000 Yeangder Tournament Players Championship (TPC) on Friday.

Jeev, Chowrasia falter
Amsterdam: Indian golfers Jeev Milkha Singh and SSP Chowrasia made modest starts at the KLM Open, turning in identical one-over 71s in the opening round. Both Jeev and Chowrasia shot one-over 71 each to be just outside the projected cut line.
Jeev had three birdies against four bogeys, while Chowrasia had five birdies, four bogeys and a double bogey on par-five 12th.
Meanwhile, Miguel Angel Jimenez continued his excellent recent form to take a one shot lead after the opening round.
Sanam, Malik in semis
New Delhi: Sanam Singh and Vijayant Mailk have raised hopes of an all-Indian final at the USD 15,000 ITF men’s singles Futures event in Toronto, Canada after winning their respective quarter-finals.
Second seed Sanam beat Canadian Braydenx Schnur 7-5 6-1 while fourth seed Vijayant defeated eighth seed South African Fritz Wolmarans 7-6(3) 6-2.
India beat Philippines
New Delhi: India started their campaign at the 17th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championship on a perfect note, defeating Philippines in straight sets at Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The Indian women thrashed Philippines 25-22 26-24 25-12 in their first pool fixture of the tournament. India faces China in their next match.
Lifters win medals
New Delhi: India began their campaign at the Asian Inter-Club Championships and Asian Cup with four bronze medals on the opening day at Pyongyang, North Korea on Friday. Apurba Chetia (junior men 56kg) and Manalisha Sonowal (junior women 48 kg) won two bronze medals apiece — one each in the two tournaments.

Ahmedabad: Eight-time world champion Pankaj Advani staved off a stiff challenge from Rupesh Shah before prevailing 3-2 in the decider to win the PSPB Snooker and Billiards Championship, on Friday.
