The decision to appoint Amritraj was taken at the All India Tennis Association's Executive Committee meeting in Goa. He will remain on the job for the whole of 2014.
The players had demanded that Rohit Rajpal be made the new captain but AITA stuck with Misra for the ties against Korea and Indonesia before agreeing to find his replacement.
"The AITA Executive Committee meeting took place in Goa on 21 Sept 2013, and the position of a non-playing captain for the Davis Cup was discussed. It was decided to nominate Anand Amritraj as the non-playing captain for the year 2014," AITA Secretary General Bharat Oza said in a release.
The committee decided that Zeeshan Ali will continue as the coach. The venue for the Chinese Taipei tie has not been decided as yet.
"It was also decided by the committee that Davis Cup venue should be rotated from state to state to allow more states to get an opportunity to host the Davis Cup Tie," the release added.
