Ex-Tata group CEO joins Gordon Murray design house
Gordon Murray Design Limited has started the process of putting their ambitious iStream project into full scale production. The company, headed by Gordon Murray who is famous for designing and engineering of the Mclaren F1 road car, has now got former group CEO of Tata Motors, Carl-Peter Forster, on board.
The iStream assembly process is set to revolutionise high volume automotive manufacturing process. Using iStream, a manufacturing plant can designed to be 20 percent the size of a regular plant. This would lead to a reduction in capital investment in an assembly by around 80 percent.
Moreover, the flexibility of this assembly is such that the same factory can be used to manufacture different variants. The iStream process will lead to a significant reduction in full lifecycle carbon dioxide.
Gordon Murray Design Ltd has created forty three positions to support the several iStream customer programmes that the company is working on. Murray has now taken up the position of chairman and the company has acquired two more premises adjacent to their headquarters at Shalford.
