Even as political tension brews between India and Pakistan, Pakistani singer-composer Adnan Sami, who has been working in Bollywood for more than 14 years, says that he has got an amazing reception from the audience here, so much so that he feels Indian. “Music in its true essence has got no language. You don’t listen to anybody because he is black or white, or because he belongs to a particular geographical region. You listen to him because you like what he does,” Sami says.

The 44-year-old further adds, “The response that I have got over the years is the best example that the people of India love me, and I feel as much Indian as anybody. India has been my home for 15 years; I have never lived in any part of the world for this long. I also happen to share my birthday with the country’s Independence Day. So, there ought to be some connection,” he says.
