Along with the deputy commissioner, assistant health officer Virender Kalia and officials from JITF Ecopolis, the company to which the corporation had allotted the work of solid waste management, had presented the report stating status of steps taken by the municipal corporation (MC) to manage solid waste.
"We have been asked to submit an affidavit stating the steps being taken and the deadline by which the process of solid waste management would be started in Jalandhar," MC commissioner Manpreet Singh Chhatwal told Hindustan Times.
"The commission will announce the verdict on the petition filed by the Nakodar resident on October 25," he added.
As the corporation has been facing stiff resistance from various safai unions, it has extended the deadline to start management of solid waste.
A meeting to resolve the issues of safai union representatives would be held shortly, sources said.
