It asked the BCCI counsel and Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB), petitioners before the top court, to seek instructions on the Bench’s proposal. The matter would be heard on Tuesday and the court is likely to pass a formal order.
At the beginning of Monday’s hearing, the BCCI placed its proposal to set up the special purpose committee comprising senior politician Arun Jaitley and Dutta to look into the issue. It even suggested the committee find out if further probe was required into all the issues mentioned in the chargesheet filed by the Mumbai Police.
The court disagreed with the submission and said, “The Mumbai Police can go on its own. Let the panel make an independent inquiry and give the report to the Supreme Court and suggest remedial measures.”
