The party has also changed three more tickets and nominated MLA Yasir Shah son of labour minister Dr Waqar Shah from the Shravasti seat.
Former BSP leader Babu Singh Kushwaha, who was a close confident of Mayawati during her previous regime, had fallen apart after his name cropped up in multi-million NRHM scandal in the state. While sacking him from the Cabinet, the then chief minister Mayawati had also expelled him from the party in 2011.
After the CBI investigation Kushwaha was arrested and at present lodged in Ghaziabad jail. In 2012 assembly election Kushwaha had a brief stint in the BJP also. But after uproar over his induction the BJP leadership removed him from the party. However Kushwaha worked for the saffron brigade even from outside.
Party sources said that nomination of Shivkanya was largely because of caste consideration. There is a feeling in the party that her nomination would help in mobilization of backward Kushwaha community in Bundelkhand and east UP. Even in Ghazipur nearly 40% electorates are from various backward communities.
The move is also being seen to keep Kushwaha community in good humour after unceremonious departure of Dr Ram Asre Kushwaha from the post of national general secretary of the party and chairmanship of remote sensing centre.
The party while changing three more tickets has nominated Baleshwar Yadav in place of Ramendra Tripathi from Deoria, Bhalchand Yadav from Santkabir Nagar in place of Abdul Kalam and Bechai Saroj has replaced Daroga Prasad Saroj from Lalganj reserved constituency.
From Shravasti the party has decided to field Yasir Shah, MLA from Matera (Bahraich). His father Dr Waqar Shah, who represents Bahraich city assembly seat, is critically ill.
