Talking to temple trustees during a meeting at Deotsidh, he said earlier too this temple had remained in news due to various acts of omission and commission and as such there was a need on part of its management to improve its working and punish the guilty.
He said a recent case of bungling in accounts of the trust by an employee was a serious offence and it should be investigated thoroughly and the guilty persons booked under the law of land. The working of the temple trust has been under scanner since its taking over by a government-owned trust in 1984.
The trust had spent lakhs in fighting various court cases due to the wrong decisions taken by the management, but no action was taken by the successive governments against the persons concerned. This is because that the trustees are appointed by the respective state governments on basis of party affiliations of the workers and they help their own persons to occupy important seats during their tenure thereby leading to mismanagement in the working of the trust.
Besides, a case of construction of a huge inn (serai) costing Rs. 5 crore on the land of the mahant of the Baba Balak Nath temple is still lying pending in the Supreme Court for final judgment. This inn is still unoccupied and people are highly upset with its management. The HP high court had given a verdict in favour of the mahant and the temple trust had appealed in the apex court.
