Though the city police have booked only five ETT teachers for submitting forged documents to secure job in Zila Parishad, Ludhiana, but there are 139 such candidates who tampered with the documents and succeeded in getting jobs.
The department had been asked to serve showcause notices
to the erring ETT teachers and take appropriate action against them, but in vain. The department had served notices to the tainted teachers, but did not follow up the matter.
In a detailed report compiled by the then additional deputy commissioner of Moga, it was stated that 28 candidates forged documents to get job under the Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Classes categories. During checking it was found that 60 candidates had not submitted certificates of the degrees or diploma they had got.
Ten candidates were from outside the state and didn't have proof of having studied Punjabi up to class 10, a prerequisite for getting job in Punjab.
Five candidates succeeded in securing jobs on the basis of fake sport certificates. These five candidates have been booked by Ludhiana police on October 1 for forging documents. The said candidates had submitted 'D' grade certificates, while the advertisement issued by rural development and panchayat department had clearly mentioned that the sports person with grades from 'A' to 'C' certificates were eligible for the sport quota.
Degrees and diplomas of 29 candidates were found forged. Documents of seven candidates from ex-servicemen category were also found tampered with.
The rural development and panchayat department had invited applications against 1,000 posts of ETT teachers in 2007-08. Around 8,920 ETT and BEd teachers had applied for the same. The department had filled 990 posts, while 10 were remained vacant due to unavailability of suitable candidates under the reserved categories.
The first recruitment was conducted on June 24, 2006 and 376 candidates were selected against the 586 seats. 0n August 7, 2006 the department hired 234 more teachers. Third recruitment was done on December 22, 2006 and 138 seats were filled. In fourth session on October 29, 2007, around 138 seats were filled and in the final counselling session that was conducted on November 19, 2007, the department had hired 71 more teachers. Later, the teachers were allotted postings.
