Even before the shooting starts for Subhash Ghai's film on life and struggle of Sarabjit Singh, a controversy has erupted with a Ludhiana woman, Baljinder Kaur, claiming to be the real sister of the Indian prisoner who was killed in a Pakistan jail, raising an objection.

Baljinder Kaur, who runs a school in the New Moti Nagar area of Ludhiana said she was hurt on coming to know that film-maker Subhash Ghai has probably selected Sonakshi Sinha to play the role of Dalbir Kaur as the sister of Sarabjit.

"I had raised the issue several times before the media and with the authorities concerned that Dalbir Kaur is not our sister. She came to the forefront in 1992 after the arrest of Sarabjit in Pakistan. Dalbir Kaur had assured us that she had the links and would struggle to secure the release of Sarabjit on some conditions. We trusted Dalbir Kaur and allowed her to pursue the matter, but later we were sidelined," said Baljinder Kaur.

"She (Dalbir Kaur) took all records related to Sarabjit from us and later introduced herself as his real sister and befooled people. Now, she has been trying to fool the film-maker by concocting a story," she alleged.

Baljinder Kaur said if the film-maker wants to make a film on Sarabjit's life, he should verify all the facts before going ahead. She alleged that wife and daughter of her brother Sarabjit are under pressure from Dalbir Kaur.

Baljinder Kaur also claimed that Sunil Masih, a resident of Chhandwa village in Gurdaspur, who was lodged in the same jail where Sarabjit was kept, came to meet her in Ludhiana on Thursday after being released from the prison and shared with her his memories with Sarabjit.

In July, Baljinder Kaur had organised a 'bhog' ceremony of Sarabjit in Gurdwara Sahib, Ludhiana.
