The Himachal Pradesh government on Tuesday gave additional charge of the chief secretary to additional chief secretary P Mitra. Mitra, a 1978-batch officer, is the senior most IAS officer after chief secretary Sudripta Roy, who suffered a brain haemorrhage on October 12. Roy, who was referred from Indira Gandhi Medical College to PGI Chandigarh, underwent surgeries in PGI and his condition continues to be critical. At present, Mitra is holding charge of home, vigilance and co-operative societies. A government notification said that Mitra would continue to hold his current offices apart from the additional charge of chief secretary.
