“That is why I decided to gift her a basket full of onions as a Diwali gift.”
On Saturday, Dikshit had said the skyrocketing prices of onions had affected her kitchen too.
“After weeks I ate onions today with bhindi (lady finger),” Dikshit told the media.
Jolly accused the Delhi government of doing nothing to contain the prices of the kitchen staple, and said the rates have gone up due to hoarding in Delhi.
“It was a unique gift from the BJP to Dikshit to highlight the escalating prices of onions and inaction on the part of her government to contain the rates,” said Jolly, who had unsuccessfully contested against Dikshit in the 2008 assembly elections.
“The government has failed miserably on all fronts due to which people are suffering.”
The BJP leader said he had taken a prior appointment to meet Dikshit.
