The survey also revealed that 55% of Rajasthan voters are satisfied with Ashok Gehlot’s performance as CM, but only 27% would want him as the state’s chief minister again. Close to twice that number, or 51%, prefer Raje as the next CM.
Dissatisfaction with the Congress government has been growing, up from 23% in July to 38% in October, 2013. Be it the condition of roads, hospitals and schools; electricity and water supply or law & order, more people said that things have worsened than improved under the current regime.
The anti-incumbency sentiment against Gehlot is strong with more people not wanting to give the state government another chance (45% in October, up from 36% in July, 2013). Worryingly for the sitting CM, support for Raje was also more than that for Ashok Gehlot across demographics, be they Jats, Gujjars, SCs , STs or women.
