The hospital will be equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities to provide advanced health care facilities to people.
According to a communication received by Kaur from deputy chairman of Planning Commission, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, said "The Planning Commission has supported the proposal for the phase III of Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) for upgradation of 38 medical colleges. This includes Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital in Patiala."
The project has also been cleared by the ministry of finance, added Ahluwalia.
In January 2013, upgradation with Super Speciality facilities of Medical College and Rajindra Hospital was proposed by the ministry of health and family welfare, in the phase III of the PMSSY in the 12th plan period, at a total cost of Rs. 150 crore.
The ministry will soon get the formal approval of the union cabinet in the matter, said a press release issued from the office of Kaur.
