Girls have secured the first three positions in the Punjab Civil Service (PCS) examination, the result of which was declared on Thursday. The result, which was out hours after the completion of interviews on Thursday, is available on the PPSC website, ppsc.gov.in.

Grewal (65.88% marks) bagged the top spot, followed by Kamaljot Kaur (65.31%) and Navreet Kaur Sekhon (64.21%).
Ravjot (26), a qualified dental doctor, had got the 47th position in the PCS exam last year and is presently posted as an excise and taxation officer (ETO).
Talking to HT, Ravjot said, "I am happy that I have fulfilled my parents' dream. The discipline I imbibed from my father (Col Baldev Singh) has helped me a lot. Hard work and honesty is the key to success."
"I decided to take the exam again as I wanted to be in general administration," she said.
Ravjot, a BDS passout from Army College of Dental Science, Hyderabad, chose anthropology and public administration as her exam subjects.
The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has selected 160 officers in civil, police and other departments.
"We have done our best to ensure a transparent selection process by calling experts from various fields to interview the candidates. We have selected the best candidates and you will be surprised to know that many are from economically backward and rural background," said Lt Gen MS Buttar (retd), PPSC chairman.
A total of 2,137 candidates appeared for the PCS mains (2012 batch) exam conducted in June, of which 486 were called for the interviews to select 160. Earlier, the PPSC had conducted the PCS exam last year for the 2009 batch.
The PPSC had advertised 160 posts, including 30 posts of the PCS executive branch, 20 (deputy superintendents of police), 30 (excise and taxation officers), nine (tehsildars), 25 (food supply and consumer affairs officers), 28 (block development and panchayat officers), 11 (assistant registrars) and seven of employment generation and training officers.
