An upcoming musical concert, titled Sangam, is all set to bring together popular ghazal singers Bhupinder and Mitali Singh, and Pankaj Udhas. The trio will perform at the event to raise funds for a charity that supports the education of rural children.

Bhupinder says, “Since this concert was going to raise funds for underprivileged children, Mitali (his wife) and I decided to lend our support. It gives every artiste an immense amount of solace to be part of a noble cause. I would request people to come and make this concert a success.” The proceeds go to the NGO Each One Teach One and will be used to set up educational centres for
underprivileged children.

The couple is expected to present some of their popular ghazals at the event. “We are encouraged and overwhelmed by the requests we get from our listeners. The flow of our performance would be decided spontaneously depending on the farmaish (request) from the audience. Some ghazals that we are certain to perform are ‘Shama jalaye rakhna’, ‘Kisi nazar ko tera’, ‘Dil dhoondta hai’ and ‘Do deewane shehar mein’,” says Mitali.

Udhas, who is a regular at charitable concerts, will also perform some numbers like ‘Jeeyein to jeeyein kaise’, ‘Chitthi aayi hai’, ‘Chandi jaisa rang’ and ‘Aur aahista kijiye baatein’. “I also plan to present my recent numbers, like ‘Maiee’, and a few ghazals from my latest album," says the singer.
