Demanding regularisation of jobs, more than 500 members of the Punjab State Suvidha Employees Union on Sunday held a state-level convention at Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Hall, and threatened to go on a strike if the government failed to accept their long-pending demands. Union state president Om Parkash Rana said employees had been receiving lesser wages than other employees for the last several years, making it difficult for them to meet their daily expenses.

"The union gave several representations to the government, but it did not pay heed to our demands," he alleged.

"If our demands are not met by December 15, employees will go on an indefinite strike starting December 16," he added.
