For this purpose, the volunteers of the organisation held a medical camp at a city slum and a programme at a school on Tuesday.
Anshumali Sharma, director Childline and member Child Welfare Committee, said: “Child Rights Week begins from November 14. But at Childline across the country, we are observing a ‘Dosti Week’ that will end on November 14. The aim is to reach out to children who are in need of care and protection. We want to spread awareness among people our helpline number so that more children can benefit from it.”
Childline volunteers said that the awareness about the helpline had increased among people in the past years as a result of which, many missing children had been united with their families.
Sharma urged people to show concern for children who are in need of help.
“If they can’t do anything much, they must call up 1098 and hand over the child to Childline, which takes care of such children,” he said.
