The complete date sheet, however, is expected to come out in the last week of December.
The board decided to announce the dates early as it was being flooded with a large number of calls and emails from parents and students, who wondered if the upcoming general elections would prompt a rescheduling of the examinations.
According to Central Board of Secondary Education officials, the board has also written to all election commissions across the country, indicating the exam dates clearly.
“We wanted to put an end to all speculation as a lot of worried parents were calling us up to ask if the dates of the board exams would be advanced or pushed back keeping in mind the general elections. There is no change in our dates,” said an official who did not want to be named.
The board exams usually start in the first week of March and ends by the third week of April.
The general elections in 2009 were conducted in April and May.
