Yet another befitting example of ‘vella’ celebs getting publicity out of Bigg Boss is Pooja Misrra. Known for her ‘friendly relationship’ with Pooja Bedi on the show, the model and actress, during a brief Chandigarh visit, says, “I acknowledge the fact that Bigg Boss made me a household name, but
what happens when you get out of the house? Reality shows like these can just give you a head start; one still has to work hard to achieve success.”
Talking about what’s keeping her busy after the show, she says, “The film, Baaja Baja Dunga, was offered to me before I entered the Bigg Boss house; I am doing an item number for the film now.”
Given her frequency, doing item numbers seems like a dream come true for her — the VJ started her big screen career with item song Saajan Saajan and then did another item number for the film Mera Dil Leke Dekho. Ask her the same and she says, “Item numbers are something to be proud of; they are so in vogue these days. Even established actresses of the industry want to do them to garner more publicity. The splash these numbers make is incomparable to any other song of the movie they are a part of. Films come and go, but the item numbers continue to resound at parties and marriages because they are mood up-lifters.”
On how she is different from other ‘item girls’ she says, “They want to portray themselves as sex symbols; I want to be a thinking man’s sex symbol. I add a dash of sensuality and sophistication to what I do.”
When in Punjab, she says, “Though I am not a Punjabi, I have always had an affinity towards the Golden Temple. I feel honored that I have been felicitated with the honorable Punjab Rattan award for my social services here. I was and am associated with NGOs Beti Bachao Andolan and Buzurgon Ki Sewa.”
But, that’s not all! The model is a fashion designer too, as she says, “I have my own fashion line by the name Caliente. I prefer designing my own outfits. Unlike others, my main focus is not to grab attention. I’d rather wear something I’m comfortable in, while looking sexy.”
