Viacom 18 Colors, the channel that airs Comedy Nights With Kapil has published a notice stating that whosoever attempts to launch or be associated with the show’s comic character 'Gutthi' will be taken to court.

This comes in the wake of the fact that comedian Sunil Grover, who until recently played Gutthi, quit the show amid rumours that he’ll come up with a similar act on a rival channel.

The notice was issued by Viacom 18 on November 20. It also states that no artist can emulate Gutthi's mannerisms since they are "the sole right of the show, Comedy Nights With Kapil".

When contacted, Grover said, "My lawyers are reviewing it. If the show has given me loads, I have also given the show a lot." Insiders say the notice has been issued as the makers feel that the character has been overshadowing the show itself.
